Assessment appointments

Speech pathology assessments provide the time to complete a thorough individual assessment of how your child is communicating.

This includes time in the clinic with a face to face appointment where Jess will talk and play with your child. In this time, she will conduct semi formal/formal assessment tasks to observe your child’s abilities to set goals and priorities for intervention.

Additional time spent away from your child is also important to make a holistic assessment of your child’s needs. This can include case history reviews, analysis of assessment data, communication with appropriate others, and a written report sent to your family.

Therapy appointments

If therapy is recommended following your child’s assessment, goals will be discussed with you and individual therapy may be offered.

Face to face therapy appointments will include activities practiced together to build skills which target your child’s goals. Jess is passionate about educating families within therapy so they feel empowered to support, advocate and make decisions for their children. Intervention will involve supporting parents/caregivers to build their skills in creating a positive communication environment where your child can generalise their new communication skills.
